The School

The O'Connor-Rea School of Irish Dancing is based in Charleville, Co. Cork, Ireland. The school was founded some 18 years ago and for a modestly sized school it is not without its success. The school has captured Championship titles at Oireachtas na Mumhan, British National Championship and Oireachtas na hEireann (the All Ireland Championships). The school has also achieved podium postions at Oireachtas na Mumhan, Oireachtas na hEireann, British National Championships, Great Britain Championships, North American Championships and Oireachtas na Cruinne (the World Irish Dancing Championships).

The dancers in the O'Connor-Rea School of Irish dancing are put through their paces by director Sheila O'Connor-Rea TCRG/ADCRG.

Sheila is originally from Sligo in the North West of Ireland. Sheila with her sisters danced with Carmel O'Rourke-Tighe now resident in the USA, Mary Healy who died in recent years in Dublin where she had been resident for many years and JJ McDermott from Fermanagh. JJ who passed away at a relatively early age was not just a teacher to the O'Connor sisters but was a very dear family friend.

Sheila likes to put emphasis on enjoyment and participation and being proud of reaching one's potential.

Sheila's husband Dan is director of the Shedan Irish Dance Store www.shedan.ie.
